Kölln oat bran – the nutritional program for cholesterol-conscious people
Scientific studies show: oat bran actively lowers cholesterol levels. The background: oats contain the soluble fiber beta-glucan. Oat beta-glucan has been proven to reduce cholesterol levels* in the blood. This positive effect occurs with a daily intake of 3g of oat beta-glucan as part of a fat-conscious and varied diet. 3g of oat beta-glucan corresponds to 2 portions of 20g each of Kölln oat bran flakes or 2 portions of 25g each of Kölln oat bran Fleks®.
Cholesterol is a component of bile acids, among other things. Oat beta-glucan binds bile acids in the intestine and activates the formation of new bile acids from cholesterol in the liver. This means that less cholesterol remains in the blood – cholesterol levels fall.

* High cholesterol is one of the risk factors for coronary heart disease. This is caused by a number of factors. If one of these is changed, a positive or neutral effect can occur.
